Every night Claire and Solange take turns pretending to be their mistress in a crazed ritual, enacting their fantasy of murdering madame. The Maids is a play about the agony of exclusion and the ecstasy of imagination.

With it’s Extaordinary language and unsettling blurring between fantasy and reality, The Maids, written by French artist Jean Genet, is a fascinating tale about the rituals of extravagance and the horrors of poverty.
